Hartford Harpooners

Tough loss today, but the boys fought to the end. Justin Hale and Marcus Satavu both scored tries, the team scored a penalty try, and Reid Watkins made a conversion and scored a penalty kick. The Harpooners are slated next to travel to Wilmington, NC to participate in the Cape Fear 7s.

Breaking news!!! The Hartford Harpooners are entering the Cape Fear 7s in Wilmington, North Carolina from June 26 to 27. If you are interested in playing, reach out to our Instagram page and Marcus Satavu for this and future trainings.

   The boys picked up a victory yesterday in Glendale against Colorado XO, winning 36-35 in their fifteens debut. Starting right out of the gate with Amro Gouda scoring a try in opening minute. Matt Hughston followed that with a try of his own using a maul to his advantage. In the 39th minute, Genesis Lucius would score his first try of the day. Marcus Satavu would score a last minute try to close the first half with a 24-17 lead. Dejon Taylor would score the Harpooners first try of the second half in the 53rd minute. John Truax would make a break on the outside and score the Harpooners final try of the day in the match.

 April 23, 2021 -  The Hartford Harpooners are excited to announce the addition of Angel Torres. Born and raised in Valley Center, California, Angel started his career with Avengers Rugby and would continue his youth career with Valley Central, Rhinos Rugby Academy and SoCal Griffins. He would then cross the country to New England College to begin his collegiate career. He would continue his collegiate career with Trinity Western University, United RFC, and MiraCosta Community College. He would then make his presence known with Pathway 404 and his latest stop with the Austin Gilgronis of the MLR. Angel will make his debut with Hartford on May 8th in Colorado.

 April 19, 2021 -      The Hartford Harpooners are excited to announce the addition of Joanel Joseph. Born in Rockland County, NY and raised in Philadelphia, PA, Joanel started his rugby career at Penn State University being apart of their CRC sides. He world continue his rugby career with Schuykill River, Potomac Exiles, Capital Rugby Union, and Beltway Rlite. Joanel made his Harpooners debut at Ruggerfest-Fort Lauderdale earlier this year and will be a part of the squad heading west to Colorado on May 8th.

 April 17, 2021 - The Hartford Harpooners are proud to announce the addition of Hartford native, Luis Rosado to the roster. Luis started his rugby career with CCSU as a crossover from the track and field team and transferred from Eastern Connecticut, where he currently holds the record for 400m hurdles. He would then go on to play for the Hartford Wanderers and Connecticut Select.

April 16, 2021 -   The Hartford Harpooners are proud to announce that Cesar Arango as the latest addition to the roster. Coming all the way from Colombia, Cesar has played since he was 14 years old with the Zorros RC, Duendes RC, the Colombia National team, Old Blue RFC, and Union County RFC.

April 16, 2021 -   The Hartford Harpooners are excited to announce the addition of Adrian Salazar. Originally from Venezuela, Adrian started playing rugby with Anaucos Rugby Club and would continue his career here in the States with the University of Miami (FL), Miami RFC, OMBAC Rugby, Life West, and S7ormers Rugby. Adrian will make his debut for the Harpooners in May 8th against the Colorado XOs in Colorado.

 April 3, 2021 - The Harpooners U-23 finished Day 2 of the Tropical 7s a perfect 3-0, beat the New Orleans Voodoo and Celtic Barbarians in the final two pool play matches and beating S7ormers Rugby in the 3rd place match. The Harpooners scored a total of 140 points and only allowed 48 points in pool play for both days.

April 2, 2021 -   The Harpooners U-23 side finished Day 1 in 3rd place with a record of 1-2 scoring a total of 75 points, allowing 48, with a differential of 27. The Harpooners will finish the pool stage tomorrow with marches against the New Orleans VooDoo and Celtic Barbarians.
